CELEBRATING OUR 50th YEAR

ABOUT

Novato Lacrosse Club is a non-profit program run by a team of volunteers providing a recreational opportunity to play lacrosse for boys and girls ages 5-14. We focus on developing fundamental skills while providing challenging competition, competing against other lacrosse programs locally in Marin and surrounding NorCal communities.

MISSION

The Novato Lacrosse Club was founded in 1969 with the mission to provide our community's youth an exceptional lacrosse experience including life-long lessons of sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership while encouraging the love of the sport.

VALUES

The Novato Lacrosse Club is a safe, fun and inclusive youth sports program whereby young athletes receive quality instruction and focused development in the game of lacrosse. We draw players, coaches, and volunteers from our diverse community to create an environment for players of any ability to learn and enjoy lacrosse. Our coaches and volunteer staff are dedicated to reinforcing our commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun!

Our teams are recognized not only for their skill, but also for their love of the game and high level of sportsmanship.

OUR HISTORY

Founded in 1969 as part of Novato’s city recreation program, the Novato Lacrosse Club (“NLC”) is the oldest lacrosse club in California, perhaps on the entire West Coast.

NLC enjoyed unprecedented success in the 1970’s and 80’s: the boys varsity program won ten consecutive Northern California Club Championships and five consecutive State Club Championships from 1975 to 1985. In 1997, a boy’s junior program was added for grades 7th and 8th and in 1998 a girl’s varsity team began to compete for the Club. A Pups level team for grades 4th through 6th was added in 2002. In the summer of 2001, the Novato Unified School District voted to approve varsity lacrosse as a CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) sport as part of a two-year pilot program at the two Novato high schools, Novato High School and San Marin High School. In 2004, the school district extended this pilot program for varsity level lacrosse at both high schools.

Today NLC has over 250 active girls and boys playing across 15 teams and is recognized around Northern California as a premier lacrosse club.

MEET THE TEAM

The Novato Lacrosse Club is a non-profit organization whose operations are only successful because of its volunteers and the countless hours they put in before, during and after the season. The NLC board is comprised of accomplished, passionate and committed leaders who are willing to invest their time and resources to further strengthen the club and lacrosse in Novato.

If you are interested in joining the board or contributing to the operations of the club beyond the standard seasonal volunteer duties, please contact us at: Info@novatolacrosse.org
